Sony Entertainment eyes 26 pct in Neo Sports - report
MUMBAI (Reuters) - Sony Corp.'s Sony Entertainment Television has offered to buy 26 percent of Nimbus Communications' Neo Sports for 3.15 billion rupees, the Economic Times newspaper said on Tuesday. The Sony Entertainment board has approved the acquisition and Nimbus will consider the offer in a board meeting in mid-March, the paper said, citing unidentified sources. "The international launch of Neo Sports presents an opportunity to ally with other strategic players. This may bring an additional set of possibilities for the globalisation of Neo Sports and expansion of Neo Sports Plus," Nimbus Chairman Harish Thawani told the paper, referring to its two sports channels. Sony Entertainment's cricket properties will be exhausted with the International Cricket Council's World Cup beginning in March.
BBC cash for honours report banned
The BBC has been banned from broadcasting a report into the cash for honours investigation.An injunction was obtained by the Attorney General, Lord Goldsmith, at a hearing that lasted approximately two hours at the Royal Courts of Justice. A statement issued on behalf of the Attorney General and the Metropolitan Police said:"The application for an injunction was made by the attorney general this afternoon at the specific request of and in co-operation with the police because of their concerns that the disclosure of certain information at this stage would impede their inquiries."The attorney general acted in this respect completely independently of government, and in his independent public interest capacity."In response, the BBC said that the report was "a matter of public interest." .
