Tony Blair's imminent exit is worrying Rory Bremner. The impressionist and former NS columnist is concerned about the blandness of the pretenders to the political throne - particularly David Cameron. "My Cameron is still a work in progress - rather like the original," Rory tells me. "I won't perfect it until he does." Still, Bremner, Bird and Fortune, which returns to Channel 4 this month, will continue to interest and annoy the powerful. Alastair Campbell once collared Rory to call Andrew Dunn (the actor who played him) a "fat bastard", telling the impressionist to "take note" of his weight losses and producing his exercise routine as proof. Have we heard the last of Ned Sherrin on Radio 4's arts and entertainment show Loose Ends? A friend of his says the great presenter's vocal cords are so badly damaged that he confided in her: "My radio days are over." Let's hope not.
Business group plans drive to lure residents downtown
That's the titillating question downtown Dallas businesses and leaders will ask area residents as part of a six-month, $500,000 marketing campaign aimed at luring them to the city's urban core. The campaign, unveiled by DowntownDallas at its annual meeting Friday, represents an aggressive shift in the business association's effort to promote the center city's expanding stock of housing, restaurants, cultural facilities and entertainment offerings. "Downtown no longer closes at 5 p.m., and it's time to spread that message, it's time to tell our story," said John Crawford, DowntownDallas' outgoing chairman. DowntownDallas will do so using billboards and print advertisements to drive viewers to an interactive Web site, which officials say will launch March 1. The group on Friday also screened a slickly produced video featuring young professionals explaining why they live and work downtown while The Who's hit "Who Are You" plays in the background.
Oscars telecast still most-watched entertainment TV show in US
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- Sunday's telecast of the 79th Academy Awards drew a viewership of nearly 40 million across the United States, making the coverage of the Oscars gala night on ABC the most-watched entertainment program, according to statistics released on Monday. Preliminary figures from Nielsen Media Research said about 39.9 millions Americans, 3 percent more than last year's 38.9 million, watched the telecast ceremony in the Kodak Theater in Hollywood. The figure is the most for any entertainment program this season. The Oscars have long been the most-watched entertainment program for each television season. With woman comedian Ellen DeGeneres as the first-time host, viewership was up 15 percent among women aged 18 to 34 and 6 percent among women aged 18 to 49, according to Nielsen Media Research.
Jail and Child Support??
Here is the story: CANTON, Mass. (Feb. ) - Bobby Brown was ordered on Monday to remain in a county jail until he pays $19,000 in late child support and court fees, his lawyer said. "We're diligently working on getting those funds available from outside sources," said Phaedra Parks, an attorney in Atlanta where Brown currently lives. Parks doubted Brown would get out of jail before Tuesday morning. http://news.aol.com/entertainment/music/articles/_a/bobby-brown-arrested-over-child-support/20070226143109990001Ok, this is what I do not understand. They make this out like it's a huge deal, right? Doesn't Whitney have a crap load of money, too? I do believe that fathers (based on income of the Mom and Dad) should be responsible for providing finacial support; however, if Bobby Brown was a regular Joe and Whitney Houston a regular Jane: No one would be doing anything.
