LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- Pinnacle Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE: PNK) today reported financial results for the fourth quarter and full year ended December 31, 2006. For the fourth quarter of 2006, revenues and adjusted EBITDA(1) were $212.7 million and $34.5 million, respectively. The fourth quarter's results reflect the continued maturation of L'Auberge du Lac in Lake Charles, Louisiana, as well as more normalized results at Boomtown New Orleans, which remain strong relative to pre-hurricane levels. Revenues and adjusted EBITDA for the prior year's quarter were $227.0 million and $46.0 million, respectively. Last year's fourth quarter results included extraordinary results at Boomtown New Orleans which, after Hurricane Katrina, benefited from the temporary closure of many competitors in the New Orleans and Gulf Coast areas.
Our Belize Community - Chico Ramos
Born Herman Ramos to parents Carl and Claudina Ramos, Chico grew up in his hometown of Dangriga in the Stann Creek District. The middle child of seven young boys, he was born on February 20th, 1963, and attended Sacred Heart Elementary. His time in school was quite busy as Chico loved to keep occupied and was very active in sports. Chico enjoyed spending time with classmates playing soccer and absolutely loved to show his high kicks in karate. But, the one thing that kept Chico even more occupied and the one thing that he remembers the most of his childhood is the time he spent with both his grandfathers; his maternal grandfather was a musician while his paternal grandfather was a songwriter. Chico would spend time with both of them taking in their love for music to the point that it ran strongly through his veins.
Now showing: epic cost of cinema snacks
Buying a small popcorn and a soda at a movie theater is becoming a big investment. At the 13-screen theater owned by Regal Entertainment Group in the Fenway, the price of a small popcorn and a small soft drink will set you back $10, the same as an adult ticket. Granted, the small popcorn is 85 ounces, nearly twice as big as the small at other theaters, and a small soft drink is 32 ounces, the equivalent of roughly half of a 2-liter bottle, but it's still a lot to pay for modest fare. Susan McWhinney-Morse of Boston recently went to the movies at the Fenway Regal, where tickets for herself, her grandson, and friend set them back $25. A small popcorn and two drinks added $16.50 to the bill. "That's $40," she said. "It's appalling. It's absolutely appalling." All food vendors take hefty profits on the products they sell, but analysts say no one does it quite like movie theaters, which push popcorn, soda, and a host of other items that cost little to make or buy, and generate very high profit margins.

Distribution Of Ray J/Kim Kardashian Sex Tape Halted
Porn giant, Vivid Entertainment, announced Monday (February 26) that they have halted the distribution of the Kim Kardashian/Ray J sex DVD, "Kim Kardashian Superstar." According to Vivid co-chairman, Steven Hirsch, they've decided to put the DVD's release on hold until the company can set up a meeting with the Hollywood socialite. "We feel it is most important that we have an opportunity to meet with Ms. Kardashian as soon as possible. We have reached out to her to try to set up a meeting," said Hirsch in a statement. Although the DVD has been temporarily halted, Vivid maintains that they have "the legal right to distribute" the DVD, after purchasing the tape from a third party for $1 million. Kardashian filed a suit last Wednesday (February 21) in Los Angeles, which may be the reason for the halt of distribution.
New chef whips up winners
Stephen Lash, the new executive chef at the Rhythm House Cafe, has served everyone from former President Bill Clinton at the Duquesne Club to on-the-go travelers at Pittsburgh International Airport. That's all the proof one needs to realize food is truly our most common denominator. Over the next month, area diners will see this mix of cooking fit for heads of state and blue collar workers on display at the Bridgeville entertainment mainstay. "We're going to have a menu that reflects that. We have a wide range of people in the area," said Lash. Lash, who took over the kitchen on Jan. 8, is aiming to make the menu every bit the headliner as weekly performances of live country and rock music. A Mt. Lebanon native, he graduated from Westmoreland County Community College with associates degrees in culinary arts and restaurant management.
Celebs Must Broaden Their Vocabularies
The symbolic ban on the "n-word" has been passed, making it symbolically illegal to use the racial slur, though no penalties will follow if one should break this symbolic law. The City Council was unanimous in the move, which is aimed particularly at discouraging teens who may casually utter the term. But supporters of the symbolic moratorium are also requesting that celebrities eliminate the word from their vocabularies. The Recording Academy has been asked not to nominate musicians for Grammy awards if they use the word in their lyrics. But a Grammy spokesman said he doubted that the academy's voters would support censoring artists. Councilman Leroy Comrie has asked TV network Black Entertainment Television not to allow the use of the word in its shows. It has yet to be announced what word the station would condone instead.
