Hundreds gather for Anna Nicole's funeral

A white hearse carrying Anna Nicole Smith's body drove toward a Bahamas church today where the former Playboy Playmate was to be laid to rest in a beaded gown and tiara after a tightly guarded memorial service.

Hundreds of islanders and tourists crowded behind steel barricades as guests began arriving at the white-columned Mount Horeb Baptist Church, which was festooned with flowers.

"It's beautiful, just beautiful," said choir member Sheryl Rolle.

Gazing at the TV cameras and police, tourist Christie Rathgaber was amazed at all the security and media.

She said: "I'm just incredulous at all the fuss. She was not a world figure. She was not a queen. She was not a president. She was not anything ... It's just way over the top."

The church ceremony was closed to all but 300 guests and camera crews from Entertainment Tonight.

The conditions of their bail include surrendering their travel documents to the police and reporting to the police twice weekly. The RM also issued stop orders which prevent them from leaving the island.

Fiesta time

Too many parents have spent the week balancing work and child-care chores. And if you have a child heading to college or already in college, you added filing tax forms and college financial aid forms by the March 1 deadline to the mix.

After a week like that, there's only one thing to do -- party. A good place to start is the spring gourmet dinner put on by the University of New Hampshire's hospitality students.

"Paraiso Mexicano" features a six-course authentic menu on Friday and Saturday. Dishes feature an appetizer of pork-stuffed peppers, authentic tortilla soup, snapper and shrimp with tomatoes, onions, garlic and jalapeno peppers, duck breast with mole sauce, tortilla salad and fried pastry with chocolate dessert. Live entertainment and a cash bar will round things out.

BET's College Hill 4 Premieres a Sizzling New Season on Tuesday ...

"I was very proud of COLLEGE HILL 3, which had the best ratings and best viewer response of the series," said Reginald Hudlin, BET President of Entertainment. "But I can say COLLEGE HILL 4 takes it to another level. It is truly outrageous!"

In the first episode, the new roommates meet and greet each other with a little trepidation. There's Krystal, the upscale girl from the real O.C. who often finds herself at the root of all the dissention between the two groups; JT, a wannabe rapper from Compton, Calif. struggling to remain true to his girlfriend while actively being pursued by one of his new Virgin Islander roommates; Fallon, the one woman you don't want to cross from Inglewood, Calif.; and Willie from L.A., who is "single as hell" and constantly looking.

Representing the Caribbean crew are the outspoken and outrageous Idesha--she's the one relentlessly pursuing JT; Chicky, a soft-spoken star athlete who generally gets along with the Californians until they start trash talking his island; Vanessa, a gorgeous green-eyed girl who has a hard time adjusting to the Cali kids and their attitudes; and Andres, a pretty boy with bedroom eyes and a smile that melts butter, who likes to sit back and take in the drama.

Jersey Boys, Spamalot, Drowsy Chaperone, Chicago Cast Members ...

Cast members from Jersey Boys, Spamalot, The Drowsy Chaperone and Chicago, along with "American Idol" finalist Constantine Maroulis (The Wedding Singer, Jacques Brel), will be among the performers at the 3rd Annual Broadway Purim Shpiel at the Hudson Theatre on March 4.

Playbill.com columnist Seth Rudetsky is hosting.

The event begins at 4:30 PM with a Megillah reading, complimentary cocktails and food. The main Purim Shpiel portion begins at 7 PM and is followed by a wine and dessert reception at 9 PM.

Purim is the Jewish holiday commemorated by dressing up in masks and costumes and reading the Megillah, also known as the Book of Esther. In the story, Queen Esther helps her fellow Jews in Persia escape from being killed by Haman.

The event is presented by the Taglit-Birthright Israel Alumni Association, along with the National Entertainment Fund for the Cultural Arts (NEFCA) and the event's co-chairs, Michael Steinhardt, Charles Bronfman and Lynn Schusterman.

WWE: UPDATE ON WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT’S PLANS TO BROADCAST ...

When WWE taped a Smackdown brand house show last year in HD to see how easily they could put a HD broadcast together, one of the things they found was that punches that didn't land on a wrestler were easily spotted compared to how it would look on a non-HD broadcast. WWE are set to continue testing HD throughout 2007, with the possible introduction of more (or different) camera angles to help avoid issues such as punches connecting with thin air. The other major issue right now is the financial cost to WWE. As well as needing to purchase new equipment, WWE will have to purchase additional equipment for their studios. That won't come cheap if they're to get to the point where all WWE programming is broadcast in HD.

There has been some talk of WrestleMania 24 being broadcast in HD in 2008, although I don't think its ever got past the stage of it being an idea that has been briefly discussed.
