The leather-and-chrome set has a host of activities to choose from as Bike Week officially rolls into town. But along with the usual assortment of entertainment and contests, there are a number of events where you can check out the coolest in customized rides and try out the latest in production models. Trying to get out front as the coolest, the 2007 Seminole Hard Rock Roadhouse Tour starts today showing off its collection of customizers and the bikes they built for celebrities. The Seminole tour stop runs through March 11 on Main Street, said Carrie Repp of R&R Promotions, which stages the event. "We are thrilled to be able to add the celebrity bike element to (the tour)," Repp said in a release. "Most people probably don't realize how many celebrities are into motorcycles, and it's interesting to see who rides and what they ride." The custom builders are Dave Perewitz of Boston and his bike designed for NASCAR driver Tony Stewart; Russell Mitchell from Exile Cycles in California, showcasing a motorcycle customized for Billy Joe Armstrong of Green Day; Ralph Randolph of Ralph Randolph Designs in Arizona and a bike built for actor Matthew McConaughey; and Victory Motorcycles' two-wheeler for NASCAR's Kyle Petty.
SET India Acquires Package of Bollywood Titles from Eros
LONDON, March 2: Bollywood giant Eros International has signed an agreement for a range of its feature films to air on the Indian entertainment channel Sony Entertainment Television, including the recent hit Salaam-E-Ishq. The package deal also covers Lage Raho Munna Bhai as well as some upcoming releases like Namastey London. Sony will have the exclusive global satellite broadcasting rights to the original versions of these titles for a period of five years. Sunil Lulla, the director and president for India at Eros International, commented: "We have a strong relationship with all the leading Indian television networks and are delighted that Eros' content will now be showcased on Sony Entertainment Television. It is one of the leading channels in India with a global footprint.
Harrah’s Set to Open Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall & Saloon March 1
A subsidiary of Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE:HET) said today it is set to open Bills Gamblin Hall & Saloon located at the corner of Flamingo Boulevard and the Las Vegas Strip. The property, previously named the Barbary Coast Hotel and Casino, was recently acquired from Boyd Gaming Corporation. The Harrahs management team from the Imperial Palace Hotel & Casino will be responsible for day-to-day supervision of operations at Bills. With the acquisition, Harrah's now operates eight properties on the Las Vegas Strip. Culinary Union rallies laundry workers for new labor contract
For the first time, workers at a standalone laundry had a Culinary Union rally of their own. They shouted: "Si, se puede! Si, se puede!" (Yes, we can!) They shuffled to pop music in the chilly wind just before sunset outside of Mission Industries headquarters in industrial North Las Vegas. Then their union leader, D. Taylor, climbed on a truck trailer with a microphone. "We're going to win together, celebrate together, and we're going to win the contract in June," said Taylor, secretary-treasurer of Local 226. The local recently started its campaign for the contracts covering 50,000 casino workers set to expire this summer. The Culinary in 2004 took over responsibilities for laundry workers in town when its parent organization HERE (Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees International Union) merged with UNITE (formerly the Union of Needletrades, Industrial and Textile Employees).
