| What's going on? the 'newsletter lady' knows
Although she has no kids at the school now, Schuyler still volunteers her time to keep Central families connected, just as she has done for the past 10 years. In 1997, when Schuyler's daughter, Christine, was a senior and her son, Vincent, a freshman, Schuyler attended a School Advisory Council meeting where improving effective communication was the hot topic. "Someone suggested a newsletter. I mentioned I had worked on the yearbook when my kids were at Notre Dame Catholic school. So I became a newsletter lady at Central," said Schuyler. Her yearbook experience was back in the day of cut and paste and paper, glue and scissors. Now the job involves computers, page-making software and printers. She uses no templates, preferring to create her own design.

Known for his role as a comedic actor, a producer, and a writer and director, the 2006 Walk of Fame inductee will be on hand to celebrate the achievements of some of Canada's best-loved entertainers. Peter Soumalias, the Founder, CEO and President of Canada's Walk of Fame, complimented Levy, saying, "Eugene is a warm and generous person who, through wit and self-deprecating charm will set the right tone for the broadcast." "It's such an incredible honour to be hosting the show this year, considering I have absolutely no wrestling experience," said Levy. Court backs city over adult store
KENNEDALE - The city has won its appeal of a court ruling that blocked it from forcing an adult video store to move. A three-judge panel of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the city provided enough evidence that adult businesses that sell products for off-premises use can adversely affect property values and the crime rate. The ruling, announced Thursday, sends the case back to the U.S. District Court in Fort Worth to try other issues in the lawsuit filed by Dreamer's video store. Among them is whether the city has adequate alternate sites for adult businesses. Michael Ware, a Fort Worth attorney representing Dreamer's, said he will ask the appeals court to reconsider its ruling. "The court did seem to be confused about a couple of factual issues," Ware said, referring to evidence of how adult stores affect surrounding areas.

The report estimates U.S. residential broadband subscriptions will surpass 60 million households by year-end 2007, accounting for 55 percent of all U.S. households. "The foundations of digital lifestyle applications and products are built on access services, including broadband Internet and television," says Kurt Scherf, vice president and principal analyst with Parks Associates. "With the penetration of high-speed Internet exceeding 50 percent in 2007, we're also witnessing shifts in the way companies are positioning their communications, entertainment, and information services as home technology solutions." Digital Lifestyles: 2007 Outlook reveals providers are delivering both broadband and television services with greater emphasis on the value-added services they enable, rather than just the services themselves.

Pinnacle Has Rough Q4
On Thursday, Pinnacle Entertainment (NYSE: PNK) reported a fourth-quarter adjusted EBITDA drop of 25%, to $34.5 million, on a 6% decrease in revenues, to $212.7 million, largely because of extraordinarily tough comps. During last year's Q4, the company's Boomtown New Orleans property benefited greatly from operating in the market without having to face Harrah's (NYSE: HET) New Orleans and with virtually no competition from the nearby Mississippi Gulf Coast, where all of the casinos were closed from the fallout of Hurricane Katrina (with the exception of three that returned to the Gulf Coast last December). Revenues at Boomtown New Orleans dropped 38% to $40 million, leading to a hefty 60% decline in EBITDA, to $12.4 million. Meanwhile, the Belterra Casino Resort in Indiana saw EBITDA drop 27%, to $6.4 million, on what the company described as a "self-induced" increase in marketing spending in response to a new competitor opening in French Lick.
