Sex has been a part of the Las Vegas allure since the beginning of the gambling era and today it's more obvious than ever. But for the women who become trapped within the sex industry, there's nothing glamorous about it. A veteran of the local escort industry says it's a miracle she survived her years as a prostitute and she's now trying to share the same sort of deliverance with others. Annie Lobert started her own outreach program for sex workers and is out on the streets trying to save them, one working girl at a time. "I was addicted to pornography. I was addicted to sex," Annie Lobert says as she marches through the sea of weirdness that is the Adult Entertainment Expo. She seems right at home. Lobert has never been a porn star like others at the Las Vegas gathering.

Fiesta time
Too many parents have spent the week balancing work and child-care chores. And if you have a child heading to college or already in college, you added filing tax forms and college financial aid forms by the March 1 deadline to the mix. After a week like that, there's only one thing to do -- party. A good place to start is the spring gourmet dinner put on by the University of New Hampshire's hospitality students. "Paraiso Mexicano" features a six-course authentic menu on Friday and Saturday. Dishes feature an appetizer of pork-stuffed peppers, authentic tortilla soup, snapper and shrimp with tomatoes, onions, garlic and jalapeno peppers, duck breast with mole sauce, tortilla salad and fried pastry with chocolate dessert. Live entertainment and a cash bar will round things out.

It wasn't long after that SciFi Channel gave the official green light, allowing fans to celebrate an upcoming fourth season while I patted myself on the back for an analysis well done. I had stated that it was in SciFi Channel's best interests to renew the show for not just a fourth season, but possibly a fifth season as well, so that enough episodes could be grouped together to sell the entire series into rerun syndication, similar to the system that made the original "Star Trek" famous. It made sense. The more episodes produced, obviously the more valuable such a syndication package would be. Then we had to run this story.
