Vivid Entertainment Group on Friday said it would ship an adult movie on a Blu-ray DVD, becoming the first porn distributor to announce it would use the high-definition format developed by Sony.

Adult-content producers have reported difficulty in finding a manufacturer willing to replicate porn movies on Blu-ray disks, and have claimed that Sony is responsible, an accusation that the company denies. Sony's replication unit refuses to handle adult content, but the parent company says other manufacturers are free to do what they want.

While declining to name the manufacturer, Los Angeles-based Vivid said it would release "Debbie Does Dallas Again" on March 28, a spokeswoman said.

Hawking to make zero gravity flight

After a lifetime of studying gravity and black holes, the distinguished theoretical physicist Dr. Stephen Hawking will have a chance to experience first-hand weightlessness and a zero-gravity environment.

The best-selling author of "A Brief History of Time" who uses a wheelchair and is almost completely paralyzed by Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig's disease, is to go on a weightless flight on April 26.

The flight, operated by Zero gravity Corporation, a space tourism and entertainment company based in the state of Florida will take off and return to a landing strip in the Kennedy Space centre. The converted Boeing 727 soars up to 32,000 feet at a sharp angle and then plunges 8,000 feet.

St. Patrick’s Concerts Aplenty

THE St. Patrick's season is upon us now in full swing, and there will be so much great trad music on offer that you will have to go out of your way to avoid it.

Opportunities abound to see and hear some of the finest Irish music anywhere in comfortable theater chairs or amiable pub settings, so commit yourself to finding one or more locales for an evening's entertainment with your family and friends.

Right off the bat this coming Friday, March 2 is the first of the World Music Institute Irish nights in March with the ethereal Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill performing in concert at the very simpatico Symphony Space on Manhattan's Upper West Side at 95th Street and Broadway.

The Clare-born fiddler and his Chicago sidekick have been mesmerizing audiences around the world without any signs that the spell has lost its touch, and they have proven to be a popular attraction for the WMI (www.worldmusicinstitute.org) in the past.

Custom craftsman

Custom manufactured products are fine, but nothing compares to the special touch provided by a craftsman who works by hand. That's the opinion of Mike Klawitter who himself worked many years as a carpenter and for the past four years has worked as project manager and design consultant for Woessners Cabinet Corner.

Klawitter, who oversees sales of cabinets, countertops, and other wood products, said that custom manufactured (machine-made) features and hand-crafted custom shop products can in fact complement one another.

“We sell both here at Woessners Cabinet," Klawitter said, “including Dura Supreme custom manufactured products. Finishes on custom-manufactured (Dura Supreme) products are superior."

If a customer has a custom manufactured kitchen set with cabinets, and wants to add an entertainment center in a nearby room that matches what's in the kitchen, craftsmen can make a perfect match — much cheaper than going the custom manufactured route.
