Satan Friendly Family Comedy
Nothing says family fun like demons. Or at least thats what 20th Century Fox is thinking. The Hollywood Reporter says theyve picked up a pitch for a movie called The Devil You Know, based on a childrens book by Nathan Hale. Hales book is about a little devil who lives in the home of the Fell family. Apparently hes not such a bad hellspawn, because instead of succumbing to the usual mind-number terror associated with the dark ones minions, theyre alright with having him hang around until he starts doing bad things. Apparently hes more like a snake cake devil than an actual, straight from hell devil. The Fells grow impatient, and make a deal with the little devils boss Ms. Phisto and allow her to take his place. Things only get worse. Anyone want to guess what Phisto is short for? Its not often someone manages to make family entertainment out of the devil.
MGM rub the pennies together to fund United Artists slate
Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. is raising hundreds of millions of dollars to produce sequels to some of its most popular films, such as The Terminator and The Pink Panther, at a time Wall Street investors are eager to pay for movie making in Hollywood, the company's chairman said. "We are putting together a fund to finance our franchise movies -- James Bond, The Pink Panther, The Terminator and The Hobbit," MGM Chairman Harry Sloan told reporters, explaining the financing may be raised in more than one single fund - reports Reuters. The $60 million to $150 million it will take to make each of these movies "is a big enough number to merit bringing in outside investors and outside financing," Sloan said after a luncheon at the Boston College Executives Club. The independent, privately-held motion picture, television home video and theatrical production and distribution company that counts Gone with Wind among its classic hits and has won more than a dozen Best Picture awards, is also in the throes of negotiating a financing deal for its United Artists unit and may look to arrange similar deals for other units, Sloan said.
Sony on PS3: We're Glad The Shelves Are Full
This story is actually pretty refreshing. You see its usually the media that gets blamed for spinning news to fit the publication's ideology. Its nice to see a story that has been put in a blender (no pun intended) before it even got to us. Jack Tretton, the recently outspoken chief executive of Sony Computer Entertainment America, has made some rather curious remarks regarding the PS3 of late, but these are definitely the most bizarre. "It's a testament to the fact that we've been able to manufacture and ship units on a greater pace than any previous console," Tretton said. "Our goal is to fill shelves across the United States. Our goal is not to have empty shelves, it's to have full shelves. If we have empty shelves, that's one less consumer who could have bought a PlayStation 3." Ive been as outspoken as anybody about my distaste for Sonys lies and misgivings, but this is ridiculous.
Career v/s Entertainment: Exams or Cricket
Looks like the Cricket World Cup is putting students, teachers as well as parents in fix. SSLC exams are approaching from the 21st March and the World Cup from the next month. SSLC and PUC II Exams are public exams in which the studentsÂ’ future depends. This cricket fever is causing real fever as the student will be wondering either to miss out on the fun or on their career especially for those trying in Medical and Engineering fields. The Cricket will be telecasted live making it difficult for the students to concentrate As the world cup cricket matches will be telecasted live from the West Indies during the night, the parents feel that students might stay awake to view this making them cut down on their study schedule. Many also opine that they might even fall sick due to untimely sleeping hours and may not be able to perform to their potential.
Atlanta Magician Debbie Leifer Makes Award History
Atlanta/EWORLDWIRE/March 2, 2007 --- Debbie Leifer, a top Atlanta corporate magician, was recently named Greater Atlanta Magician of the Year. Leifer is the only female Corporate Magician in Atlanta, and the only one since the award's inception 35 years ago to receive the honor. In February 2007, after two rounds of voting by members of the Atlanta chapters of the Society of American Magicians and the International Brotherhood of Magicians, Ms. Leifer was awarded the prestigious title "2006 Greater Atlanta Magician of the Year." Approximately 3% of all magicians in the world are female. In the 35-year history of the Greater Atlanta Magician of the Year Award, only two other women have taken home the title, one children's entertainer and one hobbyist, making Leifer the only female corporate magician to have ever received this entertainment industry honor.
