Compass Facility Management has appointed Scott Schoenike as executive director of the U.S. Cellular Center, Paramount Theatre and Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.
Schoenike has more than 18 years of experience in the hospitality and entertainment industry, most recently as executive director of the DeltaPlex Entertainment and Expo Center in Grand Rapids, Mich.
At the DeltaPlex, he inherited a building that had an operating loss of $260,000 in 2003. In 2006, the building was operating at a $380,000 profit.

Rayz ice game in third period
The Rayz, in the venue where they had won only five times in 30 previous visits, delivered a statement that couldn't be much louder, handing the Laredo Bucks a 6-1 whipping on Wednesday night at the Laredo Entertainment Center. The victory was the most lopsided for the Rayz against the Bucks in the teams' five-season rivalry. More importantly, Corpus Christi (27-17-5, 59 points) drew within two points of Laredo (28-13-5, 61) for first place in the Central Hockey League's Southeast Division and Southern Conference. "It's huge for us to come in here and win twice," Rayz coach Ken McRae said after his team followed up Sunday's 3-1 victory at the LEC and won for the 12th time in the past 15 games. "There's no doubt about it. You look at the calendar, and you don't mark down two wins in this building.
Sony on PS3: We're Glad The Shelves Are Full
This story is actually pretty refreshing. You see its usually the media that gets blamed for spinning news to fit the publication's ideology. Its nice to see a story that has been put in a blender (no pun intended) before it even got to us.
Jack Tretton, the recently outspoken chief executive of Sony Computer Entertainment America, has made some rather curious remarks regarding the PS3 of late, but these are definitely the most bizarre.
"It's a testament to the fact that we've been able to manufacture and ship units on a greater pace than any previous console," Tretton said. "Our goal is to fill shelves across the United States. Our goal is not to have empty shelves, it's to have full shelves. If we have empty shelves, that's one less consumer who could have bought a PlayStation 3."
Ive been as outspoken as anybody about my distaste for Sonys lies and misgivings, but this is ridiculous.
